In this two-man musical spoof, a pair of aspiring playwrights perform a backers’ audition for their new, ill-advised project – a big, splashy musical about printing press inventor Johann Gutenberg.

With an unending supply of enthusiasm, Bud and Doug sing all the songs and play all the parts in their crass historical epic, with the hope that one of the producers in attendance will give them that elusive Broadway contract.

Revitalized in 2023, Starring Andrew Rannells and Josh Gad, reunited for the first time since Book of Mormon, Gutenberg! the Musical, was nominated for Best Revival of a Musical in 2024 at the Tony Awards and received a slew of raving reviews. The New York Times proclaimed: “Brilliantly realized and side-splitting!” and Entertainment Weekly said: “This brilliant musical delivers guaranteed laughs!.”
