This is a play about hunger and desire. It’s Romeo and Juliet pushed to deranged extremes, where the unlikely sweethearts are a 14-year old boy and a young fox with brutal birthrights.

Rdeca’s whole family have fleas. Her mum is pushing her into making her first kill, a snivelling mole, before she’s ready.

Basti is being bullied at school by kids who call him a shrimp. His dad is too busy flirting with the neighbour to be of any real help.

Beneath the light of a full moon, Basti captures Rdeca, and so begins a starcross’d romance between hunter and prey.

Rita Kalnejais, Playwright and Screenwriter of "Babyteeth" makes a blood-splattered return with a play of magical realism, that’s blisteringly funny, provocative and just plain freaky. First Love is the Revolution is Fantastic Mr Fox if Margaret Atwood wrote the Netflix adaptation.

"First Love is an allegory of conflict ... a question of how we dehumanise people and how it gives us permission to act badly ... but also, the play is about first love-This gorgeous experience that overwrites everything we know about ourselves and the world. There are no rules. I think it's the ultimate form of Revolution, and with each revolutuon there's the chance of success no matter how slight .... it's so hopeful. When we feel seen and understood-when we see and understand each other-anything is possible."

Directed by Allison Keane, Stepping back into the theatre world for the first time since DARE Collective's very first playreading, Meateaters, in 2020, First Love is the perfect full circle culmination of work to help celebrate our 5th Birthday.
